Which hotel would you recommend out of these 3 and why?

Would definitely recommend Hotel Beau Rivage Mekong - rooms are beautiful, its right on the Mekong, free wireless, and the hotel bar (The Spirit House) has the best cocktails in town!

I would definitely recommend the Lao Orchid. This is a modern hotel, right in the centre of town so that you don%26#39;t have to walk in the heat or take a tuk tuk like you would if staying at the Beau Rivage.

The rooms are pleasant and the staff are helpful.

I also totally disagree about the Spirit House having the best cocktails in town. The Martini Bar makes better ones by far.

I have to admit that I am torn between the Lao Orchild and the Beau Rivage.... Such a tough choice overall.

They%26#39;re also not in the same price range - last time I checked the Orchid walk-in rate was $30, and the Beau Rivage is more like $50. But they are both nice places.

Actually, I have gotten different prices. Lao Orchid has quoted me $45, where as the Beau Rivage is $36.

The Lao Orchid is $45.00. It was $30 for one month a year and a half ago when it had its opening promotion!

That is what it said on their website, and when I emailed to ask for their best price. I am also solo, so I was hoping for a little less for Vientiane. Maybe they say that they were number one on Trip Advisor and raised their rates accordingly!

Lao Orchid is 45 for sure, BR is 36 but the nicer river view rooms are more, BR will close about 1200 am so if you%26#39;re out late it can be a problem, little bit of a walk into town but a nice spot LO is right downtown, for a cheap place downtown orchid guesthouse is under $20, me I like Lane Xang hotel not everyone would agree but the pool is nice breakfast is OK $36 a night wish someone would show them how to make a pot of coffee that isn%26#39;t as thick as syrup, callao

Thanks for the response. Can you get into the Beau Rivage with your key after midnight? I understand it is a nicer view, but do you think it is a detrimental position with it being that far of a walk from downtown or not?
