Vietnam to Luang Prabang

Anyone have suggestions on going from Danang-Vietnam to Luang Prabang in Laos?

Vietnam to Luang Prabang

This may be to vague a question... are you asking for fastest, easiest or... who much time have you.

Vietnam to Luang Prabang

Assuming you want to go ';overland';:

You can take a bus for a couple of hours from danang to Hue, stay a couple of nights if you have time (very interesting town), and then get an all-day bus to savannakhet in laos. Savannakhet is sleepy but very pleasant - I get there over new year most years%26#39; and always enjoy it. From here you can get a 12 hr aircon bus to Vientiane (maybe avoid the cheaper local bus for the Savannakhet-Vientiane ride unless you%26#39;re into pain), then another 8-10 hours bus to LP.

Alternatively you can now fly Savannakhet- Vientiane, and also Vientiane - LP, depending on how much time you have.

Another alternative is bus or fly up to Hanoi and fly to Vientiane (most days, about $220 rtn last time I took it).

Recomend the Hue - savannakhet route though - allow at least a week between Danang and LP.

We just did this. We flew from Danang to Luang Prabang. You can book it all thru Vietnam Air and the route will be Danang to Hanoi with a few hours of layover and then Hanoi direct to Luang Prabang. Laos Airlines actually provides the service via a turboprop plane from Hanoi to LP. I usually don%26#39;t like prop planes but the experience was totally positive for me. The plane holds 40 or 50 passengers so it%26#39;s not too small.
