plain of jars

Am very interested to visit plain of jars ,what is the best way to get there?how long would you stay?

plain of jars

Fly from Vientiane with Lao Air. Spend 2 days there - one to see the POJ and the other to look around Phonsavan. Two days is enough.

I agree with you - they are definitely worth seeing.

Its also worth looking around the old provincial capital centred around Muang Khoun - 30km south of Phonsavanh on a good road. You can take day tours from Phonsavanh or take a songthaew. There is an old temple and french buildings bombed in the war, Hmong villages, unique bird trapping on the hillsides, even occasional bullfighting. An interesting area.

thanks for the replys.so can I fly from vientienne to phonsavan?there is airport there?

Yes. 35 minute flight with Lao Airlines.

when i was there in oct/nov flights only once a week, so I ended up flying to luang prabang and then caught a bus to phonosavan ( another route- go to vang veing - have a few dasy there then on to phonosavan by bus)

Long windy roads so if no flights prepare for interesting ride but wonderful countryside!

I booked a flight vientiane - phonsavanh last week - they are currently scheduled Monday, wednesday and friday.

how much was the flight?

Didn%26#39;t pay yet, by from memory from my last trip there (Sept 08) it was about the same as Luang Prabang - $120-130 rtn.

thanks very much for the information,I really appreciate it

I think it is cheaper than LP. LP is about 150 return, POJ 135 US of course.
