Hello fellow travellers, my spouse and i are travelling to Udon Thani, and from there to Vientiane

and as we travel low budget but want something decent, clean, and close to center off Town. We are VERRY gratefull for any advice about Guesthouses/

Hotels, so if you stayed in a nice little Hotel/Guesthouse, quiet and cosy in this places. Of course that every advice about good food and restaurants around is also welcome. I read the comments about transportation from Udon to Vientiane and found this comments verry helpfull about the bus or other local travel proposals, Thanks verry mutch.

Travel on Dear Friends,

Udon Thani and Vientiane

A great place to stay in Udon is the Irish Clock. This is 800Baht per night and the rooms are big and comfortable. Also the food is excellent. Der Besitzer kommt aus England, aber seine Frau ist Thai.

Try this web site for Udon information:

In Vientiane the Vayakorn Hotel is about $15-20 a night and is a nice, clean place. It is right next to Monument Books in the middle of town. Is this too expensive? If so post and let me know or send me a pm.

Just saw you are coming in Nov 2009. You are posting a little to early to get sensible information. Things change quickly around here.

For budget accomodation in Udon theres a hotel called ';Top Mansion'; just along from the Irish Clock that charges 400baht (about USD11). I stayed there just before Xmas - they have clean basic aircon rooms with ensuite.

In Vientiane the Riverside Hotel is modern, clean and has TV/aircon/ensuite rooms for $14-15 (negotiable). It is just off the main riverside road Fa Ngum. There is a cheaper guest house opposite it with double for $3 with shared bathroom and fan, popular with backpackers.
