eVisa available for Laos for Canadians?

Cambodian Embassy%26#39;s website offers an eVisa.

Is there such a thing as an eVisa for Laos?

For a Canadian passport holder do you suggest a visa in advance or at airport?

I%26#39;m going for about a week, so I do not need an extended visa.

thanks!

There is no e-visa for Canadians, or for any nationality for that matter. Regardless of whether you come for one week or longer, get a 30 day visa on arrival. About $40.00US and 2 passport photos.

Canadians pay more than most other nationalities, because your government charges us more.

I%26#39;m a Canadian who was in Laos 2 weeks ago for five days. You buy the visa on arrival. It takes one passport photo (agent pushed the second one back across the counter to me) and $42 US. That%26#39;s the most expensive among the twenty or so countries listed, for some unfathomable reason.

The reason is not unfathomable at all. Did you read my post above? We are merely reciprocating.

Oksana-

If you don%26#39;t want to mess with waiting at the airport for your visa, you can apply for it in advance at the Lao Embassy in your country. Takes about a week and costs $5 more than at the airport.

Yes, I read your post, Rufuscat. And I%26#39;m still puzzled--unless you have some information that I don%26#39;t. I think you%26#39;re suggesting that Canada has high visa fees for Laotians to visit, whereas in the US the fees are lower. What are the comparable American and Canadian visa fees that Laos is adjusting its own fees to?

Yes that is exactly what I am suggesting. Canada charges more than the US for visas for Lao people. The visa fees charged by the Laos government are directly related to the fees charged by corresponding governments.

How much? Provide the details and I%26#39;ll write my Member of Parliament. If you%26#39;re right, then Canada is charging people from Laos more for a tourist visa than do any of the other twenty countries I saw listed when I entered Luang Prabang. And if that%26#39;s the case then I%26#39;ll rise the issue.

Oops... raise the issue.

';raise the issue.';

I knew that was what you meant :-)

I will try and find the exact figures and PM you.

The only Lao embassy in the US is in WASHINGTON DC

and if you go on the website the fee for Americans for a visa is $55 and for Canadians is $57, so you guys are bickering over $2.

The point is, many of us do not live in DC %26amp; do not want to send out passports through the US mail.

LOL!

The Lao gov%26#39;t should do what the Khmer did %26amp; make an eVisa.
