luang prabang hotel with pool

can anyone recommend a hotel with pool in luang prabang. we%26#39;re visiting en-route to vietnam in early april with our 9 year old twins. both are seasoned travellers having spent 3 months travelling round the world with us on a moderate budget last year, but really appreciate an end of day dip in a cool pool!

Not many pools in LP, and non in mid range hotels, and if you are going in April you are probably already out of luck. You better check to see if you get accomodation. Things are very full already.

thanks very much. unfortunately may have to miss Laos this time round as are finding flights from bangkok very expensive. will probably just do 3 weeks in northern vietnam now. thanks for reply though. any tips on hotels in hanoi?

Sorry can%26#39;t help you with Hanoi.

Re getting to Laos - you can take the overnight train from Bkk to Nong Khai and then it is an easy bus ride from the friendship Bridge to Vientiane.

Another alternative is to take a budget flight to Udon Thani and then a mini bus from the airport to the friendship bridge. Much cheaper than flying with Laos Air or Thai air.

If you can still make it to Laos I think the cheapest hotel in LPQ with a pool is the Mouang Luang. Other hotels with pools include Satri House, La Residence Phou Vao and Villa Maly

None of the above could be described as mid range which is what the op is asking for.

See my review and photos on Villa Santi Resort, may be in your price range.

You might have a look at these hotels: La Residence Phou Vao and Villa Maly

I guess some peoples%26#39; ideas of ';mid range'; are a bit different to mine.

I think people are considering moderate in comparison to rates in other SE Asian nations.

To me, moderate is between US$50 - $100 a night with breakfast.

The Apsara Hotel is moderate, but it doesn%26#39;t have a pool... but it has great location, ambiance.

I%26#39;d suggest the London family visit Cambodia... it%26#39;s cheap, they can get a room w/ AC %26amp; a pool for US$40 with breakfast In Siem Reap.

They can take a bus from BKK to REP.

In Laos %26amp; Cambodia, $100 a night is not moderate, it is excessive! Moderate is more like $25. You can stay in decent places for $15, and budget places for under $10. LP is a bit overpriced compared to other cities in Laos...
