Can anyone recommend reputable places to get good quality Lao weaving, silks etc in Vientiane and Luang Prabang? Ta

Yes. If you want very high quality but VERY expensvie weaving in Vientiane, there are 2 places I suggest. One is Carole cassidy, but beware, she sells largely to the US market and as a result her merchandise is very overpriced. The second is a small shop - forgot the name. Go to the Mother - Child hospita, follow the road to the Mekong, turn left and walk about 50 metres and you will come to a shop on the left that sells very expensive, but stunning Lao craft.

Otherwise, jut wander through Talat Sao - the Morning Market. Don%26#39;t go into the mall area as this is geared for tourists and prices are generally higher. Go to the the textiles section outside the mall.
