new train service

Anybody know the details of the train service from Nong Khai,I heard it just started, Is the BKK train going to continue into Laos or is it a Local commuter type service, can you board at the border after getting your visa, how many times a day and where does it end up in Laos in relationship to Vientaine, thanx, Callao

It%26#39;s on the news, but not officially start yet.



I am planning to go to Laos by train as well.



You still need to buy the ticket to Nong Khai.

The Princess officially opened the line last week, so yes it is open. Of course it doesn%26#39;t go to Talat Sao, but only to the new station.




Hi Rufus hope the new baby is doing well, where is the new station, how much closer to VTE do you get by taking the train, guess i want to take it for the novelty of it but if it just goes a little ways may not be worth it thanx callao




Baby is fine thanks. It is amusing and fascinating to see her start to recognise people and smile.



The train is not that much closer to Vientiane proper - about 5km. So you still have to take a tuk tuk. Here are the details:



Train times: From Laos to Bangkok/Korat.





1. Express 70: Depart Tha Nalaeng (Laos) at 17:06 Arrive Nong Khai at 17:20 Depart Nong Khai at 18:20 Arriving Bangkok (Hualamphong) at 06:25. Overnight Direct Train





2. Special Train 914: Depart Tha Nalaeng (Laos) 10:45 Arrive at Nong Khai 11:00.



TRANSFER TO



Ordinary 418: Depart Nong Khai 13:03 Arrive Korat 19.25.





Train Fares for Cross Border train service.





Prices Valid Between Nong Khai and Tha Nalaeng (Laos) Only.





1. Third Class - 20 baht





2. Second Class Aircon - 80 baht (50 baht for those who take Express 69/70 towards Bangkok).
