Vientiane to Nong Khai

I%26#39;m in Vientiane right now and am planning on going to Nong Khai the day after tomorrow. What is the best way to do this? I stopped into a travel agent who wanted 200 Bhat per person for a bus. Since there are four of us traveling, this seems absurd. A tuk-tuk wants 95,000 to take us to the Friendship bridge (which is better I think) but then what are our options once we cross the border? I am traveling with 2 children so I don%26#39;t want too much hassel but I don%26#39;t want to way overpay either. Advice? Thanks.

50 Baht pp on the bus from Vientiane to Nong Khai from Talat Sao.

Thanks Rufuscat. If we opt for the tuk-tuk route, what happens at the border? Can we pick up a Thai tuk-tuk there? Any idea of the cost? I%26#39;ll check back later to see if you had the chance to reply. Thanks.

You can pick up a taxi at the border to take you to Nong Khai or to Udon. Nong Khai should cost no more than 350 Baht, about 600 to Udon - per taxi, not pp. If you are coming back to Vte make sure you negotiate this with the driver first. One guy tried to charge 1200 coming back from Udon. Needless to say wife and I took the bus instead.

Thanks for your help Rufuscat.
