I%26#39;m spending part of my honeymoon in Laos and as part of the trip we%26#39;ll be travelling from Vientiane to Vang Vieng.

Does anyone know how frequently the VIP buses leave Vientiane?

There are daily VIP buses leave Vientiane for Vangvieng, first one is in the morning and other is in afternoon.

There are also minibuses which depart a couple of times a day as well. Tickets for this can be bought at the Green Discovery office next to Khop Chai Deu restaurant in Vientiane city centre,

how long does the trip take?

3 1/2 hours. Take the regular bus from Talat Sao Market. 7:00am is the first bus, and you arrive in the morning and will have all day to spend in VV!

Thanks everyone for your advice. Would I be right to assume that the buses from Vang Vieng back to Vientiane are just as regular?

Yup, they leave in the morning at the little bus station in Van Vieng. You pay the fare on the bus...

Coming back from VV the last regular bus to Vientiane is about 4pm. The last aircon is 1pm.

If you want to get the most out of your day, the communal pickups (songthaew) run about every 20 mins up till about 9pm.

They leave from the VV bus station, cost 25000kip ($3)and are usually faster than the bus at about 2.5 hrs. If you get in first you get the indoor seat next to the driver (with the seatbelt!)

Does anyone know what time the first VIP bus leaves VV in the morning?
