LP is overpriced for what you get, but you could find a place for $10 a night, maybe $8 if you search far and wide. Don%26#39;t expect much, though...

There is a narrow street near the post office (or Joma cafe) with half a dozen guesthouses that have double rooms with bathroom for 60,000kip ($7).

My favourite at the moment is Suan Phao guesthouse, 70,000kip a night ($8) for a teak bungalow with onsuite, in a garden setting -- its about 5 mins walk back from the river on Ban ThatLuang - has to be the best bargain in LP if you dont mind walking 500m.
