Hi having just returned from Laos (what a beatiful country) I was hoping someone could shed some light on the following. We had read that pushbikes were available for hire and saw many tourists riding them. On the day we went to hire some they were ';finished';, despite there obviously being bikes in the shop and were advised to try tomorrow (we got the same response all over town). The next day at 8am we were told to come back at 10am, and we think the gist was if the police station was open we could not hire bikes; as it turns out it wasnt and we could. What is the go here, is it illegal?
